A news item in Daily Telegrph on 23rd titled Record-breaking Mentos and coke explosions showing the video of people in Belgium making the coke erupt from the bottle into the air is some thing to be seen. Coke jets out when mentos are dropped into it. This seems to be the reaction of carbon dioxide to the presence of mintos. Its rapid expansion causes the eruption. This is explained as a result of the pores on the surface of mintos, since a smooth one does not induce the same effect. Google Videos has a featured item on this. You can view that here.
